Interventional Radiology Research Day
The Interventional Radiology Research Day for medical students and trainees is the first ever IR research conference aimed at medical students, junior doctors and trainees. The programme features some incredible speakers who are at the forefront of academic interventional radiology. The initiative is organised jointly by IR Juniors & the BSIR Trainee committee, and is supported by the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).
The 2021 event takes place on Friday 15th October, 9am - 5pm. For this year, the event will be hosted virtually. Registration for the event is OPEN - sign up at: https://app.medall.org/event-listings/interventional-radiology-research-day.
Varied programme with top quality speakers
The IR Research Day features an exciting programme covering hot topics in interventional radiology research. Our speaker line up features some the leaders in academic IR across the country & internationally.
The morning sessions will be covering some key topics in academic IR. The afternoon sessions will feature small group workshops for all levels, covering how to get involved in academics at each stage of training. View our conference programme here.
NIHR National Pitching Competition
We will be running a national pitching competition as part of the event. Trainees & medical students are invited to submit a 60s video pitch for a new national audit idea in interventional radiology.
The top 5 pitches will present on the day, and compete for a national NIHR Surgical MedTech Co-Operative prize, £100 and the chance to lead their project on a national scale with the UNITE Research Collaborative. Full details available here.
Multi-disciplinary MDT Research Panel
The event features an innovative multi-disciplinary research MDT. We will be inviting representatives from trainee research collaboratives in oncology (NOTCH) and surgical specialties (STARSurg, VERN, BURST and BNTRC & NANSIG) to participate in a grand round talking about cross-specialty research collaborations.
The top pitches submitted for the pitching competition will present their idea to a panel of judges on our pan-specialty MDT panel.
