IR Juniors Australia
Career Pathway
The IR training pathway in Australia requires at least 8 years of training after medical school.

Internship. This is a 1 year program rotating through medicine, surgery, emergency care & other placements.
Residency. The radiology program requires 2 years of training before starting, so candidates usually do at least 1 more year as a resident.
Radiology Training. This is a 5 year program after which trainees become a fellow of the Royal College and can practice as radiologists. Basic IR procedures are taught during these years.
IR Fellowship. To perform more advanced IR procedures, the IRSA requires trainees to undergo further fellowship training. This is usually 1 or 2 years.
